A challenging arrival into serenity! A challenging arrival to unmapped territory leading the needy seeker for a peculiar vacation to sudden calmness. This unique accommodation in a cave-house "Casa Cueva", has capacity for 2 persons with all comfort. Our caves have the essential modern services (electric light, hot water) and are very beautiful and romantic. Caves are ecologically-friendly houses and naturally maintain a steady temperature of around 19-20 ºC (67-68 Fº) year round. It is soothing becoming accustomed to cave living, with the solidity of the earth and the silence of a church. The area is where the house is located has posibilities for walking and enjoy the nice landscape. It is near to "Presa de Los Pérez", a big dam. Nearby there are still many prehispanic caves where the ancient inhabitants of the island lived almost in the "Stone Age". In Galdar the main town, you can visit the impresionant Archeological Museum of "Cueva Pintada".
It is located at "Barranco Hondo", 1.100 mts. altitude, between the municipalities of Gáldar and Agaete. The troglodyte home (casa cueva) where used by the first inhabitants of the Canary islands, the "Guanches" and is a magnificent example of adapting the popular architecture to the physical characteristics of the land, with no risk of collapsing, and it is waterproof. "Barranco Hondo" has been declared Park of Cultural Value, standing out the cave-hermitage of Our Lady of Fatima, caved on stone, following the traditional troglodyte architecture, so popular in the north region of the islands. A visit to the etnografic museum in the neighbourhood is highly recommended.
